PROJECT DOG WATER
PROVIDING WATER. SAVING LIVES.
About the Project
Project Dog Water started when a team member of Rocky Mountain Animal Rescue saw numerous dogs lose their life while attempting to cross a busy highway to get water from a near by river. We knew there had to be a way to help, and Project Dog Water was born! It took many trials and errors trying to find something that worked. First, we had a rain barrel with holes drilled at the bottom that filled a troft but the water was getting too dirty. Now, we have a rain barrel with a solar powered aerator.
With this project, I am hoping to create a community of people who want to help make a difference, to raise awareness, get the community involved, and save the lives of many homeless dogs who deserve a chance at a life with warmth, love, food, and water.
Mission
The mission of Project Dog Water is not only to provide water for stray dogs in needed areas, but to also create a community, and create a conversation of a topic that is so often swept under the rug. I strongly believe together we can make a difference, and save lives.
How it Works
The rain barrel collects water, which is gravity fed through a hose to fill the water dish. The water dish has a fill valve to ensure no water is wasted. Also attached is a solar powered aerator to help keep the water fresh and moving!
